As the fall semester comes to a
close, a group of Nepali students have
marked a major milestone on the global stage, successfully completing hands-on practicum projects in New York City
at internationally recognised organisations, including UN-affiliated offices. Their work addressed pressing global and
regional challenges many of which closely mirror issues faced in Nepal.
With the successful completion of
this fall’s practicum projects, participating institutions are expected to expand
future opportunities, opening doors for more Nepali students to gain
international experiential learning.
Learning Beyond Classrooms,
Contributing Beyond Borders
Based in New York City, the students
worked closely with multinational
teams, researchers, and policymakers, contributing to projects that
ranged from child welfare and social protection to sustainable agriculture and
women’s empowerment.
“Coming from Nepal, where challenges
like rural development and gender equity are part of everyday life, this
practicum allowed me to connect local realities with global solutions. It felt
like bringing a piece of home to the world stage.” said one Nepali participant.

Why
This Matters for Nepal?
The success of these practicum
projects reflects a broader shift among Nepali students abroad from
degree-focused study to experiential,
impact-driven education. With Nepal sending a growing number of students
overseas each year, such programmes demonstrate how global exposure can
translate into meaningful contributions both internationally and back home.
